Distribution
This program is FREEWARE/SHAREWARE. All rights are reserved by the
author. It may be freely distributed if you copy the doc file, too .
It's FORBIDDEN to gain any profit by distributing or/and using
this program without my written permission !
Intros you have created with this program may be freely distributed
also with commercial software.A remark about 'Boot Intro Construction
Set' would be nice.
Purpose
'Boot Intros' are small programs (1012 bytes) which are put on the
bootblock of a disk. They appear if insert a disk into the drive for
booting. 'Boot Intros' are often used for important messages or
notices. These intros cannot be installed on a hard disk !
Instructions
Just double click the icon or enter the name as a CLI command. It will
open its own screen with eight lines for text (up to 44 characters)
and a string gadget at the bottom for the text of the scrolling line.
The number (1-8) of that line is defined at the left side of the
string gadget. You may also change the colour of a line by click its
colour gadget on the right side. If you use the freeware version the
scrolling line is always line 7 and line 5,6 & 8 are missing ! At the
top you'll find the following eight gadgets :
Read me : try it !
Author : try it !
Clear : clear all text gadgets
Quit : guess ?
Read : Read a previously created intro and copy it to the buffer.
Write : Write the intro to a disk.
Install : Install a disk and delete an intro on the bootblock.
Show : Show the intro
'Read', 'Write' and 'Install' will open a requester and ask you for
the drive number. If you just have one drive then it's time for you
to insert the disk. 'Boot Intro Construction Set' will verify the
bootblock after writing. If you get a verify error, be careful! There
are two possible reasons :a virus is running and intercepts the write
command or a virus killer does the same - check it out !
'Write' and 'Show' will put up the intro and will check if the code
and whole text will fit into 1012 bytes (about 200 bytes are reserved
for characters). If it doesn't fit you will get the number of
overlapping characters. To exit the intro just press the left mouse
button and move the mouse pointer away from the gadget before you
release the button.PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WRITING A NEW BOOT BLOCK WILL
DESTORY THE OLD ONE. SO SOME PROGRAMS WHICH USE THE BOOT BLOCK WILL
BE DESTROYED BY WRITING A BOOT INTRO - YOU USE "BOOT INTRO
CONSTRUCTION SET" AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!
NTSC & PAL
The intros will run on NTSC and PAL machines. The eighth line won't
be visible on NTSC screens. In this case you should use black without
any text otherwise you'll see the colour on the top of the intro.
